Writing Strategies

How to write a composition from a given notes?

1) Paragraph 1 : Introduction

- provide a beginning for the composition
-> use "wh" questions to bring in the settings.

2) Paragraph 2 : Content

- describe the main point and supporting detail -> track event

3) Paragraph 3 : Content

- describe the second main point and supporting detail -> field event

4) Paragraph 4 : Conclusion

- provide on ending to the ending. Highlight the main point

How to write about an event?

1) Introduce the event:/subject

- name of the event/function

- say why, when, where it happen

- describe the event/subject

- say who involved

2) Interesting experience

- which part of the event interests you?

- did anything special happen during the event

3) How you felt about the event

- proud, satisfied, please, happy

4) How it ended

- describe how and say when it ended

- did you enjoy the event?

Steps in writing

1) Jot down and organise ideas about your topic

2) Write the first draft

3) Revise your whole essay. Check the flow of ideas, grammar and choice of vocabulary

4) Edit your essay to make sure the words are spelled correctly

5) Write the final draft

How to write a composition with the title "Advantages and Disadvantages of .......

1) Write a short paragraph to introduce the topic

2) Give 3 positive points and support your opinions with examples

3) Give 3 negative points and support your  opinions with examples

4) Conclude by giving your personal opinion on having and using mobile phone

5) Check the grammar and choice of vocabulary

6) Make sure the words are spelled correctly and the punctuation are used correctly
